What is a stand up pouch?

Stand up pouches are considered a hugely popular choice of durable and flexible packaging solutions thanks to their high barrier composition, along with convenient resealable capabilities, to keep the contents as secure and as fresh as possible between uses, or for on-the-go convenience.  Stand Up Pouches feature an expanding bottom gusset and Flat Bottom Pouches are equipped with expanding and side gussets, which allows for the pouches to be stood up tall and proud for convenient and appealing presentation using minimal shelf space.

Are stand up pouches eco-friendly?

Not only are stand up pouches environmentally friendly compared to rigid formats due to their low cost production using less raw materials, being lightweight and taking up less room in transit to lower transport costs and carbon emissions, whilst their compact design reduces packaging waste, a recyclable version moves us towards a circular economy.

Recyclable mono-material vs non-recyclable multi-layer composite

Rightpak Recyclable Stand Up Pouches have been produced using a mono-material making the recycling process much easier at Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), compared to composite materials that contain two or more materials combined, such as polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and metallic polyethylene terephthalate (MPET) that can’t be separated meaning they cannot be recycled as they cannot be remade into that material composition again.

Are Stand Up Pouches Recyclable?

Our recyclable pouches are marked with a recyclable logo consisting of its resin code 4 for ease of identification, meaning they can be recycled.

Where can recyclable pouches be recycled?

Our Recyclable Stand Up Pouches are a Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) considered a soft plastic such as carrier bags which can be recycled at supermarket store front recycling points and in some home kerbside collections if local authorities allow.  Head over to Recycle Now to check recyclability of plastic bags and wrapping in your area.
